The platform’s mission is to promote sustainable practices and transition to more environmentally friendly solutions. Green Tiger has developed an Energy Roadmap, which provides recommendations for adopting renewable energy solutions, and is currently working on a Construction Roadmap. The platform provides a forum for sustainable companies to exchange knowledge and tools, enabling them to implement changes towards greater sustainability. The ultimate vision is for Estonia to become a leader in achieving a balanced economy by 2025.

CeroCO2, launched in 2005, is an initiative aimed at reducing the impact of activities on the climate through concrete actions and involving all social actors. It provides tools to calculate and offset carbon footprints, promoting sustainability in product manufacturing, service provision, events, and other activities. Originally a partnership between NGOs ECODES and Acciónatura, CeroCO2 is now managed by ECODES directly since 2011.

The Hållbar Film tool, created in collaboration between Film i Väst and Greentime, helps productions become more sustainable by breaking down the complex area of sustainability into clear, concrete questions based on the Global Goals. The tool provides the right information in one place, eliminating the need to Google for information or technical terms. By answering questions in a ready-made structure, you can gain points and realize that the complex becomes simple, while the scoring motivates you to do more. The tool’s easy-to-navigate structure with environmental, social, and economic aspects saves both time and money and maintains commitment.

AdGreen is an organization working actively to eliminate the negative environmental impacts of advertising production and enable the community to measure and understand waste and carbon impacts, empowering them to act for zero waste/zero carbon. AdGreen focuses on creating free tools, resources, and training for everyone to access in order to accelerate change. AdGreen is based in the UK, however, the carbon calculator uses local carbon factors when calculating emissions from production activities – wherever they take place. AdGreen plans to create other production hubs soon to provide the same infrastructure support and training to local teams. Currently (April 2023), they have a team in the Netherlands supporting the advertising production community there. AdGreen is part of the Advertising Association, working in partnership with BAFTA and albert, and supported by leading industry players.

The calculator allows you to enter all the essential production data, identify the truly climate-relevant activities per production phase, collaborate with colleagues, business partners, and stakeholders, and get the results compiled in a report. In addition, the CO2 calculator provides key figures for broadcasters, production companies, or film fundings. The tool has already been successfully used in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and South Tyrol. By using the CO2 calculator, productions can accurately measure their carbon footprint and take actions to reduce their impact on the environment.

GreenTime has been dedicated to assisting event organizers and companies, regardless of their size, in minimizing their ecological impact since 2014. With a comprehensive range of services, they offer valuable support in sustainability certification, carbon footprint calculation, and training through webinars. While some of their services are available free of charge, others require a fee. Primarily catering to events, GreenTime has gained significant popularity in Sweden’s film production industry as well. Their sustainability certification specifically applies to events, including film festivals and other film-related gatherings. To attain the certification, event planners must utilize GreenTime’s planning tool, which outlines a set of mandatory requirements. Compliance with these requirements establishes GreenTime’s standard, and the tool provides clear documentation on what is necessary to fulfill them. Independent auditors review the submitted answers for verification, allowing certified events to proudly display the Certified Sustainable Event logo.

“Film i Väst has developed a set of checklists for various film professionals and production activities, aimed at reducing the environmental impact of productions. These checklists contain basic elements that should be taken into consideration. The checklists are available for free and can be consulted by professionals such as lighting masters, assistant directors, costume designers, sound technicians, location managers, producers, directors, scenographers, script supervisors, and extras coordinators. Film i Väst is a company owned by the Västra Götaland region, which supports local audiovisual productions. It is located in Trollhättan, also known as “”Trollywood””. Västra Götaland is the most important film region in the Nordics and one of the ten most important film regions in Europe. The region is committed to supporting the green transition of the audiovisual sector.

The website provides guidelines, a green label, and a link to a carbon calculator and checklists.

The “Guidelines for sustainable Filming” by the Slovak Film Commission aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use resources more efficiently, and protect the environment and human health in the audiovisual industry. The guidelines cover various aspects of production, from script and pre-production to post-production and promotion, providing advice and suggestions for a more sustainable approach. By following the 5Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle/Rot), filmmakers can contribute to a more environmentally and economically sustainable society.

“The Green Platform of the Slovak Film Commission is a platform that aims to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly film production. It provides resources such as a Green Call, Green Guide, Green Database, and a Carbon Calculator to help film professionals reduce waste, use resources efficiently, and protect the environment and human health.
